A FRAGRANCE FROM ANOTHER AGE
-
For generations, agarwood has held a special place across Southeast Asia, valued for its deep, resinous aroma and its use in traditional incense, ceremony, and perfumery. Cambodia became particularly associated with oud, the fragrant resinous heart of agarwood, whose character can range from dark and woody to warm, sweet, and subtly animalic.
Cambodian oud is often appreciated for its distinctive depth and complexity. Its aroma is shaped by the interaction between the agarwood tree and the resin that develops within it, creating a material whose character can evolve beautifully over time.
For The Oud of the Ancients, we draw inspiration from this remarkable heritage and reinterpret Cambodian oud through a modern perfumer’s lens—allowing its profound woody character to meet rose, saffron, amber, and precious woods.
